Customer's email to us :

"I can not connect Internet if the telephone line is not use, it means I need to pick up the phone, just let the phone line is in the on position, and I can use Internal no problem! Is any way I can use the Internet and the phone is not using?"

Uh... What?

You know what the worst part about answering customer emails is?
Discovering just how poor the literacy level of the majority of the human race has become.

More TV.
More beer.

Yay Engrish? Where the hell was this person calling/mailing from?!?!

Screw the beer. Gimme a fifth of Jack Daniel's, it's the only stuff strong enough at a time like yours. :|

God, some of the stuff you get here in the States is atrocious. I can see poor English if you're a recent immigrant (I'm 6 hours from Los Angeles, the new Ellis Island, and 3 hours from the Mexican border) but some native speakers, God, you'd think they'd never heard or read English before.

And as for the TV and the beer making ppl idiots, that holds true in the States too. After all, we've got Dubya as our fearless leader. :/

LOL! My mother teaches biology at one of the local universities, that sounds like some of her students' papers, unfortunately.

And as for the english speakers going to english schools etc. that can't read or write I totally agree with you. Anyone, IMHO, who grows up in a country with whatever language should speak that language regardless of or in addition to whatever they speak at home, if their parents happened to have a different country of origin. *sigh*

If you can find that email, could you please send it to me at darkmage_the_fixer@yahoo.com? I'd love to read it.

The thing is, Australia's a hell of a lot smaller than the US. When a country has nearly 300 million people it definitely helps to have a standard language. As for the level of schooling here, it varies wildly even within the same city. And as for bettering themselves, hell, you sound like me. I always expect people to be better/more mature/smarter than they are and I'm usually sorely disappointed.

Care if I add you to my friends list?

Sounds like parts of Brooklyn, or east Los Angeles. I'm from the East Coast, and used to summer in Washington DC and NYC.

Yeah I can imagine how that would make customer service a little difficult. It's like trying to get a cab in NYC, it's not hard, but if you get a driver that a)speaks English and b)knows their way around it's wise to get on your knees and thank whatever god you worship. Trust me...get someone who's just off the boat and speaks nothing but Farsi and it's a miracle if you even wind up in the same borough as you wanted.

we had a customer tonight absolutely flipping out because they had sent us several emails stating they could not download their email. we replied to their emails.

still our policy states that we will reply to all of these email messages. there is a reason we have phone support as well as chat support. one would think that logically if you can't get your email you would not send an email - how do they expect us to answer them?

one hour left... :)

then it is off to see the pixies.

it's worth it :D

About 1/4 of mine don't evem bother leaving their email address (many come in from a web form) so no reply required at all :)

A couple days ago I got one saying that $USER hadn't replied to any of the email she had sent him, and wanted me to check if he was alive. :P

I used to do tier 3 e-mail support for a certain free ISP that was based here in Seattle, FreeInternet.com. I left that job firmly convinced that eugenics was not a bad idea. Now, I moraly reject the concept of eugenics, but some of these 1users... Yes, they do need a genetic larting.
