Naming conventions
Jul. 7th, 2009 11:52 am"Ok, so I can't use my old email of *initials* anymore."
"That email will still work, but we're really trying to encourage people to use *firstname.lastname@x.y* convention. It helps people outside the business remember our email."
"Ok, so firstname.lastname@x.y."
"Yes."
"Ok, so there's a dot between my first and last name."
"...yes."
"No initials."
"No."
"So...a dot."
"Between the first and last names, yes."
"No middle initial."
"Not at all."
Repeat ad infinitum.
Honestly, was I not being clear, or did he want an interpretive dance on our new email addresses?

Date: 2009-07-07 05:27 pm (UTC)I can understand, actually, I use a middle initial AND a generational suffix, and am disinclined to give them up without a fight (my name being in the top ten for both given and surname lists, thus needing some distinctive qualifiers) but outright asking for them seems like a better plan than Mr. Initial Guy, here.
