I came across the following Slashdot story a while ago here and I forgot to post at the time, but it just ring so many bells, and I wish it'd been shown about the time I was working at one of these tech support 'farms'. Scary thing is, it's really familiary - the place I used to work at rewarded us on calls taken, with no real reason to fix calls. I didn't realize this till my last month, but if I went back there - no way I will though - I reckon I could be buzzing through calls pretty damn quickly. Sad but true. Anyone here work or has worked at a similar establisment to the one in the Slashdot story?

Trauma! Trauma! I used to work tech support for H&R Block and it sounds *exactly* like that. Jeez, I wouldn't go back to working at that job even if I got paid 10x what I was making. The phones didn't watch us, Mission Control did. You couldn't even go to the bathroom without MC knowing all about it and exactly how long it took you.

Yea, I started out in a place like that. Now I'm in a place where we're a lot more focussed on solving problems, I'm running through a LOT more calls than anyone else. Hard to get back into the caring-about-customers vibe!
