oh how I hate this.... return a call to a customer and hear "I'm sorry, he's in a meeting right now", Ok, just tell them xyz support returned his call "oh! hold on they've been waiting for you!"
Next thing you know your on speaker phone being grilled by a roomful of people.
Of course I'm pretty good at faking a bad speaker phone connection...

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

great trick - crumple a little piece of paper and run it over the mouthpiece on your headset a few times. Blame their speakerphone. :-)

Ok, what I hate MORE than that is picking up a routine call at work (we don't have call queues, we have a mandate that if the phone rings a human has to answer it.) and it being for me, and it being 16 people on the other end.

I like it even more especially if they call me on my day off on my cell number that they were not supposed to have but some fool at my office gave them.
