Now with Bolding of Rage.

If you're going to come get me to fix your printer ... don't go get someone who ISN'T A TECH to ask THEM about fixing your printer while I'm sitting at it, TRYING TO FIX IT. I say this for a few reasons:

1. It irritates me.
2. If you're going to ask someone else to fix it, don't come get the tech anymore.
3. It's amazing how it works just fine while I'm standing there, but the minute I'm not watching you use the stupid thing, it doesn't work anymore.

Also, grasping at straws here, has anyone here used the HP1522nf multi function printers? This one is about to get drop-kicked through the window if I can't get it to work. It'll print one job and then error out unless you restart the stupid thing after EVERY job. Tried removing/reinstalling, disabling the HP Toolbox (which was causing the initial error), and the user REFUSES to use another printer, which isn't helping things.

I thought drop-kick defenestration *was* the accepted repair procedure.

HP? newish? Laser? Colour?
Try disabling Bidirectional support, if this a print server served printer.
We had the same problem with a bunch of hp2600n's

Clease it with *Fire*. Both the user and the printer. That should fix at least one of them.

I've got a Officejet 7110 at home that I use for testing my various document storage hacks. It locks up with a scanner error and requires a power cycle regularly. The printer has to unpark to unlock the scan head. It's really retarded, and is soon going to find itself disassembled and its scanner lamp turned into a night light.

All of the HP multi-functions are ass, and the software that comes with them is worse.

I have found that a lot of the HP Toolbox updated versions on hp.com make it worse. In some cases I have had luck with the original CD that came with it, and only the original CD that came with it.

Have you gone into Services and looked for other, printer services that are still running? Notable victims are Brother, Lexmark and Kyocera.
