"I just got an xbox 360 and I have it hooked up to the tv, but I also have xbox live on it. How does it connect to the internet through the cable box?"
"You mean the cable box that provides your tv?"
"Yeah"
"Uhh, it doesn't. The xbox needs to be connected to your cable modem to access xbox live. It's basically like a computer accessing the internet."
"Oh. I get it now. I need an ethernet cable going to the cable box on my tv?"

*brainsnap*
*headdesk*

Once again, scotch please? 18 year old talisker if you have it.

I went in to my Sony job for about two hours today. I nearly cheered when they sent me home (earlier than expected).

I must have taken two dozen calls with parents freaking out because their console was missing a controller. Which it wasn't; the parents just didn't read the box which tells them it only comes with one.

Maybe.

Most cable boxes do have integrated cable modems. Some cablecos can configure them to provide internet service from the Ethernet port.

Betcha didn't know that.

Can you guess where my icon is from? (It's a screenshot from a game, but it's pretty obscure!)

SNES Shadowrun. I still own the game, despite my SNES being stolen years ago.

It's the Dog Spirit that shows you how to do magic.

BTW, I'm a Shadowrun GM, and have written a few short stories in the Universe.

heh, I don't work there. I was just making the pilgrimage, so to say (at midnight, slightly drunk, very caffeinated.)

I work.... Somewhere else.

At the end of a hard shift, paintstripper served in a gumboot would do the job. Save the good stuff for when you're in the mood to appreciate it!

I suggest "Bug Juice" myself. Grain Alcohol mixed with Dr. Pepper.

As the problems get worse, you add more alcohol and less Dr. Pepper until your problems go away.

Better yet, force-feed the idiot callers Wood Alcohol!

Bitter about my time at the Phones? Nooooooooooooooooooo...

I had my first encounter with Talisker at a pub in Decatur, GA just recently. I must say it was the finest scotch I've ever been introduced to. Tasted like a campfire with the smoke going right through my brain.
