I spent 20 minutes today convincing a user with broken english and a thick Russian accent that Internet Explorer is included by default with Windows Vista and no, they really do not need to install AOL to get online through their new cable modem.

"Sir, Internet Explorer is included in the Windows Vista installation."
"No Internet Explorer! How I get online now!?"
"Sir, I assure you, it's there."
*20 minutes later*
"Oh, I find."

Sort of reminds me of When I initially upgraded to Windows 95 which really didn't come with a browser. Signed up for AOL for 45 minutes so I could get online, download Netscrape, and promptly canceled.

I then got AOL discs in the mail for the next TWELVE YEARS.

I was never questioned on my dual-language skills when I got a helpdesk position at $university. Imagine my surprise when I ended up handling more calls in Russian than my Salvadorean co-worker did in Spanish.
