One of our ex-call loggers assigned this 'job' to my beau on our Helpdesk.  Thankfully she is no more.

"user is having problems witrh outlook spell check and error massege comes up ' the spelling in this massege is being vhecked, please wait. spelling in the massage can't be chacked, please try again later'"

I hear she didn't even realise what she'd done wrong when it was pointed out to her.

OH YES. Eraserhead rocks my world. My father made me watch it when I was 15... explains a lot, I think ;) And I think Twin Peaks continues to be one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

I've noted that one of the major symptoms that a helpdesk is in trouble is the quality of the English in the tickets taking a nosedive. If only because it tends to indicate that the management is hiring on the basis of quantity over quality.

I seriously fail to understand why nincompoop nutcases like that are hired when I can't get a decent job (granted I'm a college freshman @ Carnegie Mellon with no job experience).

Lack of information...

If we (recap: Helldesk at hospital) sent over a ticket to Support with that little amount of troubleshooting, lack of information, and the eye-bleedingly bad spelling errors, we'd probably get written up, or at the very least, a stern talking to.

Well, our call loggers do just that: log calls. Their jobs doesn't involve any troubleshooting at all. They get the phone call, ask "what's the problem" and write down exactly what they're told. So I can't pick her up for that, tbh, because it's not her job. But the spelling errors I do think are disgraceful. I used to do the call logging myself and I always ensured they were written in good English, if nothing else than to reduce the stress levels of the support boys!
