the longer i will wait to image it

luser:  "so are these the new laptops?" (points to stacks of dell monitors)
me: "no"

..... awkward silence

luser:
"so uhhh any idea when mine will be ready?"
me: "no"

..... awkward silence

luser:  "have you even recieved them yet?"
me: "yes"

.........

luser: "oh"
me: "yeah"

Thats not BOFHian... it just so happens that theres always more important people between THAT luser, and the laptop. BofH, PFY, Head of IT, PHB, PHB's Boss.

Then theres all the emergency tickets, like the coffee machine needing re-filled :P

We did once get a help desk ticket reporting that the ice machine was broken.

I closed it with something like "Ice machine would not respond to ping per Ice Machine policy of disallowing IC(y)MP. Packet flow otherwise normal; shut down machine and performed cold boot.

Suspect Cold Fusion issue. Forwarding to Marketing."

We get ones about cleaning them out (we use those k-cup things).

Got one from the corporate office one day while I was traveling. Informed Director of IT that I'd need a last minute ticket back and forth to empty out the coffee machines as I was the only IT person with the knowledge of how to do such.

The thing users don't understand - *someone* has to be last. And it could just be them! And the more we're hassled and annoyed, the more likely it will be them!

Its the Inverse Pestering Law, the more you annoy IT*, the longer IT take to deal with you.

IT = whatever department you work in.
