WTF Man!!!

I had one costomer today who wanted to see about getting his PS3 online. He knew he could get online on his pc, but no clue what sort of connection it was. He first was thinking his vantige box was his internet connection. After about a minumum of ten minutes we where able to fingure out that he had a cable modem. How could you not know what you use to get online? I seemed to further confuse him when I suggested he may want to get a router to get both his pc and PS3 online at the same time. I was not sure wat confused him more, what a router is or how it works. I swear this dude was on crack!

Or completely technically illiterate and just had the Field Tech do all the installation without even bothering to listen to what he was saying or make notes.

I've had to take a few dozen calls like this (PS3/X-Box 360/Nintendo DS), even when they had multiple computers online and still didn't have an idea how they connected.

Some people have more money than brains. It's a sad fact of life.

Being able to decipher babelfish or stuff that reads like it is an important technical skill, if dealing with the non-technical. Makes things so much easier when you can understand what they mean, even if how they're saying it has given you a migraine.

Believe it or not, I've talked to people who play World of Warcraft who can play WoW, yet have no clue what operating system they use.
