Hi all, my name is Chris...I'm 28 and am a Support Analyst for a law firm here in Newark, NJ for the past few months...glad I found this community.

I've been working in IT in law firms (and a few vendors centered on the legal industry) pretty much my whole career, all 25 or so years of it. You want stories? I've got stories!! I've been everything from a hardware tech to an IT director, project manager, trainer, and so on. It's always challenging, I'll say that.

I read these posts....and they seem different from the calls I get...yea, tech support is the same, but when you work in legal, it's a whole different ballgame.

I'm staying at this job for a while. :-)
I've been in the legal industry as well since age 20....so it's nice to see that people stick around for a while.

Despite my occasional (ok, frequent) bitching about it, it is a good field. We tend to be better paid, get more and better benefits (I've always gotten 4 weeks vacation to start, for example) and law firms tend to be more stable places of employment.

If you'd like to chat, friend me. I'd be happy to share some tips and war stories.

I still remember with fondness my first law firm. The senior partner said something about me looking at his blackberry with him across the room from me. I mumbled something in assent, and without even looking he just reached out and dropped it.

I elected not to dive for it.
