BOIP - booze over IP.

Who is with me?

ETA
You are all shameless geeks.

Thankfully ;) Take one shiny internet... running BOIP and all the other protocols here, especially SPITFOIP because it's awesome :-D

I'm in. So, what are the protocols?

Let's ask the dude from Brazil.

he actually engineered the protocol... without wireless internets!

That's what the flag bytes are for....

In like Flynn.

Although I do want to make sure that we can pass rum through without latency or packet loss- that would suck.

Although don't forget that one often has packet loss and latency when one has too much rum, too, so a happy balance should be found. ;)

Some packet loss (evaporation) should be expected. However, the protocol should be robust enough to minimize this...

... and to recognize when packet loss has occurred and request a re-send.

The packet losses won't bother me quite so much as the stream overflows.

I propose it be based off of TCP, so booze delivery occurs in the correct order (packets with the 'hard liquor' bit set must arrive and be handled before 'beer' packets).

Then I propose we refer to all beer, by it's correct term frames. When sending and receiving frames we should strive to maintain small headers and avoid buffer overflows in the frame relay.

I think we can safely say that a minimum amount of processing occurs when passing a frame of Beer, and the hour or so of latency between import and export shouldn't be a problem at the physical connection as long as volume remains consistent.

No more will we conduct business in mere pitchers of beer. A packet of beer should be composed of multiple frames of beer. Those who fail to purchase their round of packets, should suffer some strict packet filtering or after repeated mooching off the main switch, a temporary ban until they come up with the proper protocols.

And remember, drink responsibly and if you need to drive, insure a Designated Relay without a physical connection to the BOIP network, to avoid unnecessary and costly crashes and system audits.

Also, be sure to use BoIP in moderation, as excessive use in a single session may lead to buffer overflows.

Sounds nice, but I personally think we should invest in CoIP (Choke over IP) technologies first.

Alternately we could use the BoIP protocol to deliver 3.2 light beer to those who must be punished.

I'm still trying to come up with an RFC for BsoIP (Bitchslap over IP).

Do we have an RFC # ?

I mean, if IP over Carrier Pigeon can get it's own RFC....

that's almost as good as a 'net cafe i saw recently - Internet Coffee.

it's time to generate an RFC, otherwise it's not official.

and a way to manage packet loss.

Obviously networks will have to be able to properly handle mixed protocols to allow irish coffee to be properly delivered.

I'd fund it.

That would make my day (life).
