Aug. 26th, 2008 09:53 pmTypical request in the junior SysOps' queue:
'Please set up an account for New Person, with Exchange and SharePoint access'.
That's fine. We can do that. We usually get requests like that from HR people, who deal with new employees all the time and know what to ask for.
Sometimes we get a message from a super-senior officer:
"Please set up an IT domain for New Person".
Umm. Either you know what a domain is, and want Newperson.internal.placewhereiwork.gov, which makes no sense, or you've no idea what 'domain' means but think it has something to do with technology.
TBH, I'd rather you just said "Please do stuff so that New Person can use the computers."
