Strictly speaking this isn't computer related..kinda... but I just had a friend complaining the CD/DVD drive for his new in-car sat-nav was broken.

Took me 30 seconds to diagnose the problem, 25 of which was because I couldn't believe it.
He was trying to insert the CD into the cup holder!

Ok, what utter b*stard designs a cup holder to look like drive tray? Then puts it in the dash console below the sat-nav!

Why does sat-nav need media? For navigating on different planets?

If it's a slot-style drive, at least there's no possibility of trying to set a cup on the media tray.

You load up the map info from CD/DVD so the Sat-Nav system doesn't need gigs of storage or updates. Much easier to just order the up-to-date info on CD.

er, what kind of optical media was he trying to put in it, if it didn't take optical media?

A techie w/ a sense of caustic humour? ;)
