Slow week here. It's finals week so everyone is occupied with that and not bugging us for a change. Finally someone wants something. They bought a new machine and it came with XP 64-bit. They dont like 64 bit and want XP 32-bit put on it. No problem right? I jump at the ticket because I'm bored out of my mind and run off to do it. XP initial install goes fine, freezes at the blankity blank windows splash screen after reboot. Non-standard systems make Pyro something something.

Now back to troubleshooting, just needed a quick vent.

EDIT: Got it past the splash screen. For those curious (I would be) the graphics card was throwing an error for some reason. Reseating it seems to have made it happy. Also it's painfully obvious the user set this machine up without our help. When I need to rummage for a screw driver to unscrew the DVI cable and the screw from the graphics card comes off with it you made it just a little too tight. Just a little.

Uhm... Why install XP 32bit?

(I am ignorant in the ways of Windows, forgive me)

Doesn't 64bit install 32bit compatibility libraries and then just run 32 bit code using those libs?
