What bothers me is the little 3D wizard or dog you get when you try to search in Windows XP. Why the f*ck do they have a little 3D cartoon character there, when there's nothing even remotely similar anywhere else in the OS?

HIG consistency document hoooooo!

Oh my god. That is the most horrible thing I have ever seen.

OTOH, last night an Exchange server very literally exploded in front of me. Complete with tiny puff of fire venting out of the front grill of the server. So not kidding here. I hope they fix that in the next service pack...

That's AWESOME!

I really wanted to show it to my sister... but then I realized that I'd have to explain what vi was... and why it was so funny... and yeah, joke is lost at that point.

Now, can you do one for emacs too? Equal time and all....

I don't think we're looking at the original creator, here. (I've had it lying around in a funny gifs folder for ages. :) )

But yeah, there ought to be one for emacs out there as well. Unless everybody who's using emacs is caught in a strange loop or something.

Oh, the graphic is probably older than me—and lacking in ed.

I don't know what vi is, but I found that funny as hell. That paperclip is evil.

lol.. I am but a lowly user, actually... an extremely competent user who used to converse in DOS, took a couple classes in Pascal, once owned a Commodore 64 and later an AT clone (Tandy OS, yay!), but I've never gotten into linux... and, alas, have never heard of vi, whatever that is.. an editor of some kind?

*sigh* walking down memory lane makes me recall the old BBS's... internet has come a long way.

Yes, its a text editor. One where "what I type is what I mean" not "what you see is what you get".

ah, yeah sort of like the old dos text editor... if I had realised that earlier, that pic would probably have made me spit cornflakes (if I'd been eating any, of course)

That's awsome, in a cold, cruel way!

Whilst discussing paperclip guy, coming from a unix / xeyes country, I always wandered why M$ didn't program the paperclip man's eyes to follow the mouse?!
Anyone else ever wandered this or am I just weird that way?
