Hey $boss,
1. No you don't need to get involved, because I don't want to waste 30 minutes explaining to you why Sendmail can't delete headers it didn't write without a milter or procmail.
2. When you replaced your Windoze box, the problem with the extra line in the headers started showing up. Knowing that I can't delete headers already appended to the e-mail with the software that has been installed on the server, and using the configuration that we have used for FIVE YEARS to send out your spam..I mean "newsletters" to our poor customers, don't you think basic logic would dictate that something was missed in the config for the Windoze box, not my Linux box?
Reiteration:
Windoze: Server gets replaced, header starts reporting received line.
Linux: Same config that worked for 5 years. Nothing's changed.
..and somehow this is some problem with the Linux server?
3. This all being said, this is why you are in management, not in a technical position. Now go stand over the Windoze admin and whisper in his ear that he needs to set up masquerading. Bye.
