At my company, we are about to offer Video over our Backbone IP network.  That is, in itself, a whole 'nother ball of wax...but this just gives me the giggles.  On occasion, solar flares will cause an outage.   This has happened before.

Got this in my e-mail tonight when I came in, from one of our Video Tech Support guys out in San Diego:

I wanted to tell a story about a time I had to talk to a very IRATE customer. We had channel outages due to a Sun Outage. He was told this when he called our Customer Care Center! He demanded to talk to the engineer in charge! He got me!!

He demanded to know why the channels were off. I told him we were experiencing a sun outage. He commenced to call me a liar, and said he was looking out his window and the Sun was indeed shining, and it had not gone out!!!

...please help save me from the stupids...

Well, you have to admit. "Sun outage" does make it sound like the Sun went out, not an outage caused by solar flares. ;)

I agree, to someone who doesn't know better is a prefectly logical definition.

See, I'd figure they ran most of their content on some huge Sun storage array, and it had some issue...

The last 2 days, we have been using the Ron White quote "You can't fix stupid!" We wanted to type it up and post it in our office, but of course management would of told us that it was wrong, and someone would of been offended.

That's because it is wrong, you can fix stupid.

You just have to beat it out of people. I advise the useage of a Cluebat, Clue-By-Four, or a Clue Wand (Crowbar with a paper star glued on it).

The really tough cases will require the Clue-By-4X4.

However, some people only have stupid, so they won't survive the cure, as there'll be nothing left after the stupid is gone.

I still like my Clue-by-.45 ... I prefer not to actually come into physical contact with stupid. ^_^

We made a recorded message directing them to God if they wanted to complain about sun outages. Too bad we can't actually use it.

Liar! It's not a Sun outage, it's a Cisco outage!
