My dad keeps yelling at me to get off the computer (visiting for xmas) because I am talking to STALKERS!!! (he watches Dateline alot).

I keep telling him it's impossible since they live in the country with no internet, but he keeps insisting that I 'can' because I can "pick up DSL from the antenna tower (that's 5 miles away)" He KEEPS insisting that this is how wireless works!

There should be a test given before turning on a computer. It will consist of one question: "Do you watch Dateline?" If the user answers yes, the computer refuses to boot and contacts its OEM for retrieval.

Easy, get some tinfoil, wrap it around the computer and tell him it'll filter the stalkers out... works for CIA orbital mind control waves from their satellites too.

Actually, back in High School, we had just gotten our shiney new 3 1/2" floppies (With dust covers).

Didn't take an hour for one of my classmates to destroy a Mac Classic, putting the disk in with the cover.

Teacher: "What the hell were you thinking?"

Student: "That it was a condom and going to protect the disk from getting a computer virus."

That was what the teacher mouthed.

Bah, they licked the tinfoil hat issue in the late '70s.

Nope, still works... the important point is that it has to be securely grounded, and have no gaps [or if there are they have to be covered by metal mesh].

It's called a Faraday cage.

The Stalker radio waves, yes. The CIA Mind Control System, no.

Previous (and less successful versions) were called the thuraday cage.

MIT did do an empirical study on the effectiveness of tinfoil hats.

The CIA got to MIT. The ones that try to speak out about it are DOA by MC Hawking.

(I love it when I phone support someone, asked them to type in backslash, etc. and nothing happens. I then says the slash above the Return key and they ask if I can see them through the screen.)
