Having pulled my share of holiday shifts, I send my best wishes to all who are working today for an easy day, nice callers and a big fat OT check.

I think my favorite holiday work was New Year's Eve 1999 into 2000. Yeah, laughing my ass off all night about the no-show Millennium bug everyone was so worried about was a kick.

how about capable customer service reps who do what they're supposed to before passing the call to you?

The customers are nice enough, it's the inept and lazy CC agents that are really beginning to piss me off.

I signed up too, but I was expecting some freakin' breathing room. :(

hah. well our Workforce team probably won't even LOOK at early home requests today. I wanted to take off early, but they have pitiful staffing procedures so it's busy, and they only look at early home requests when they feel like it. i.e. pretty much never.

That said, triple time is pretty freakin' sweet. Shame the government will take it all away.

Ya know, any time I hear/read about two pieces of hardware being married, I wonder what they would do for their honeymoon....

The Christmas I worked was great! Less than five minute calls, save for one, all with the issues I was supposed to deal with...

*Sigh* That was the only day I enjoyed going to work there. :-(

My last christmas eve, I worked the whole day completely uncaring, because we'd discovered two important things about 5 minutes into shift.

The offsite monitors were off for the holiday, and nobody'd turned on the call recording software.

"Good morning and Merry Christmas, my name is [livejournal.com profile] reynardo, and how may I help you?

"Yeah, my bill is wrong by $2.20 - what have you *$&^#^s charged me for this time?"

*sigh*

(That was Christmas a couple of years ago. I'm so glad I left that job).

Since there's only two of us who work nights, and, since my co-worker has kids, I volunteered to work Christmas eve, as well as Christmas Day night.

Of course, he has to work New Years Eve for me, so, it all works out.

Today actually put me in a mood to find, or start, a tech support union. Until I remembered that I'm in a "right to work" state. #:|

(Not just the calls, combination of a scheduling system that cannot be described without the word "cluster" in it, a bait-and-switch deal that screwed a large number of people into working 12/25 with no way out of it, a last-minute switch to mandatory half-hour lunches, and cheap ass Sam's Club flats of cookies and juice boxes for "lunch". Certain management folks are going to really regret the whole string of short-sighted decisions that led to the train wreck that was this Christmas for me, because there will be fallout from this. Some of it might even be from me.)

I was going to include a shout out to my favorite caller from today, but as the combination of product and his problem with it would pretty clearly identify who I work for, I have to exercise some restraint ..

I was *gasp* scheduled for today (as was the regular support staff- IIRC, only one of the apps guys came in, and the entire network team was off.)

It was slow today, which was good. I was able to at least get *some* of my backlog caught up, and managed to watch the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie to boot.

Tomorrow's gonna be a right pain in the arse, though.
