luser: "I have a computer that I threw together from spare parts. I need to have XP, Office and $ENGINEERINGSOFTWARE put on it and that's it. It's never going on the network, its not doing anything special. Oh, and I need it done by tomorrow."

Pyro: "Uhh, $ENGINEERINGSOFTWARE has a network license. If the machine isn't on our network the software won't run."

luser: "Oh. Then I'm going to need that figured out for me by tomorrow too."

$BOSS takes over and explains everything wrong with the above. Luser says he needs to talk to someone and leaves. My boss is awesome.

either way. Not being able to check out licenses for at least a short period without setting up remote user with VPN access, sucks.
