Had to add a VLAN to a bunch of trunks last night and - thanks to being tired as shit and my wife moving out the night before - my head was not in the game.

Short story: I add the one VLAN to the trunks and remove the rest. Whoops!

switchport trunk allow vlan [x]
switchport trunk allow vlan add [x]

Hey, it's an easy mistake to make, right?

The funniest part is that I brought down the Blackberry server, so nobody got paged on it and the NOC had to manually page the on-call monkey.

That reminds me of me yesterday. I was completely out of it because my gf insisted I stay up until 2:30 am with her to help her finish some application she was filling out. Note that I get up at 5:45 to be at work at 7. I was not a happy camper yesterday and actually fell asleep in the bathroom at work.

That completely sucks donkey balls. My ex at least had the kindness to leave me on a Friday so I had all weekend to drink with my friends and plot her demise (and after finding out what was *REALLY* going on, I plotted and actually pretty much pwn3d her in the divorce). My advice is to try to work it out of you feel like it can work out. I went that route until I found out about "Mr. 18 year old kid she met on an MMO that works at a McDonalds and lives in his mom's basement"..and that she was planning to..deflower.. him (he was a virgin)..so I filed for divorce.

Never, EVER have a cyber romance when you are married to a person who's job (in part) involves data recovery..Funny how the whole "it might be gone from Windows but it's not really deleted" thing works, huh...

just sayin'.

(for the record, I go custody of our (young) kid and while it's a lot of work being a single pop, I am tons happier than I've been in a long time..so it does work out)..

If you need help sleeping, ask your doctor to prescribe you some Ambien or something. I took it for 3 months whether I needed it or not and I honestly believe it kept me from going into a psychotic fit.
