Yes, I understand that your satellite location is having internet issues. We're working on correcting those today. Their office is below ours and we have staff buzzing like bees to upgrade your connection and get your download/upload times to a more acceptable speed.

That does NOT mean that the Blackboard upgrade that is in the works needs to happen OMG right NOWNOWNOWNOWNOW!!!!

The two issues are unrelated. I am not working through the steps of this update process any faster. These issues are unrelated.

The tech who was dumped with this project last week after your in house tech person decided to take an extended hunting vacation and has never looked at Blackboard before in her life. I hate doing major upgrades remotely.

Ugh. Why the hell are they trying to upgrade Blackboard during the semester? When my school did it, they took the whole month of May to get it right.

And I feel your pain. Blackboard sucks from a user point of view. It must really suck from a tech point of view.

I have absolutely no bloody idea. It seems like the worst possible idea in the entire world. The update came out in July, too. Gosh, you could have done this anytime in the last THREE MONTHS and you wouldn't have disrupted school. Now I have to do the install in a weekend. And there had better not be a single glitch, or it will be hell to pay.

It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

That and the fact that it's for a school district two hours away. Oh yeah. Fun times.

In completely unexpected good news, our office manager just came in to tell me that the tech guy at the school district got back from his hunting trip, freaked out that the update hadn't happened yet, freaked out that somebody might be touching his system without years of Blackboard experience (hello, you gave us the project, remember?) and has placed the whole upgrade on hold until he can drive up and discuss the whole thing with us. My boss might end up being in charge of doing the upgrade. Hurray!

Given that my husband is leaving in 48 hours for a two week training trip, I really appreciate my weekend not being taken up with this idiotic project.

As someone who has worked with Blackboard as a student, supported it for faculty, and seen the backend from my other tech friends perspective, I'd like to say that Blackboard sucks all around.

I'm so sorry you have to do this upgrade. I'm so sorry your users are retarded and think that network slowdown correlates to the BB upgrade. And I'm sorry you were dumped this upgrade weeks into the semester.
