I think all of us who do troubleshooting and tech support have been pretty much at this point at one stage in our careers

The BBC reports that Nepal's government-owned airline fixed a jet that has electrical problem by sacrificing a goat.
The offering was made to Akash Bhairab, the Hindu god of sky protection, whose symbol is seen on the company's planes.
The airline said that after Sunday's ceremony the plane successfully completed a flight to Hong Kong.
"The snag in the plane has now been fixed and the aircraft has resumed its flights," senior airline official Raju KC was quoted as saying by Reuters.

I once fixed a misbehaving television set by shooting a moon at it.

= )

Not joking either!

I didn't think Hindus were still into live sacrifice.

Depends on the sect and the region. Most aren't, but it's more common outside of India and among followers of the Mother Goddess who worship her more violent aspects (Durga, Kali, etc).

If you think about it, this shows a level of dedication you don't see in a lot of American airlines.

Wow... I know we've all had that thought of 'maybe a live chicken and some cheetah blood will fix this', but for that to *actually* happen...

I know I'm never flying Napal Air, or whatever it is.

I'd be more willing to call it sheer and unadulterated luck the plane stayed in the air.

Yeah, I'd tend to think that, too - in another news item I saw, it did sound like they did it along with actual repairs as a "lets get karma on our side just in case" move.

Yeah, it's more a matter of covering all your bases.

I was wondering why the hell anyone would make a scsi based airplane. Not to mention how.

I knew the suggestion to "Wave a dead chicken over it" would work!

When I was at [ISP], my boss did the "laying of hands" thing on a Juniper M40 that we could NOT get to bootup properly, and it started working. To this day I'm *still* not sure just what the hell he did to it.

It was freaky.
