For a phone that has no 3G, can't be unlocked and isn't able to swap batteries, it's getting far too much kudos considering all its got going for it is a pretty interface.

...because it's the second and third generations they're thinking about. You've gotta start somewhere. And the hopes of those of us who use apple stuff is that the touch technology will be perfected and implimented on other things.

Plus, for those of us who loath windows with all of our heart and soul (the things 5 years spent fixing it will do to you...) it's nice to have a viable alternative to windows CE without have to resort to a blackberry.

I recently read an article (I can't find it now though...) where a group of individuals have cracked the iPhone software so that it can be unlocked. All the steps are listed in a link off the news article on some guys blog. From what I recall it works pretty well on T-Mobiles network. There were a few application differences, but I can't recall what they were.

Gizmodo :) Yeah I read that too - its good news!

Unfortunately, its only GREAT news once Apple makes it official and supports the other major networks without needing a hack. One of my pet hates is the locking of phones, especially those where you have paid full price for them, and aren't subsidised for prepaid.
