Email sigs

Some daft bitch here decided it would be a good idea to start a movement to get everyone to throw the following line at the end of their email signatures:

GO GREEN - Please consider the environment before printing this email

I realize that "green" is a buzzword right now, but come on. No one here ever prints email. Try not printing thousand-page reports every day; that'll maybe help a tad more.

Anyhow, I decided alternatives were needed. At the risk of offending someone, I submit them for the approval of you all as well:

GO BLUE - Donate to the Russ Martin Police & Firefighters Foundation
GO RED - Vote Republican for Continued Oppression
GO BLACK - Never Go Back
GO FISH - I Don't Have Any 6's
GO PLAID - "Ludicrous Speed... GO!"
GO BROWN - Ask Me About My Scat Porn Collection
GO HOME - Champion Your Personal Causes There Instead of in your Corporate Email Signature

As someone who supports an academic environment, I'm amazed I've never seen anything like this before.

And yes, our profs tend to print out their e-mails. Gaah.

This reminds me of TurboTax 99 or thereabouts, when you printed your tax return, asking if you also wanted to print the "Paperwork Reduction Act of 199x".

Email is backed up to the time of MosesStoneTablets(TM) around here, in multiple locations.

One plant manager still prints everything.

I get an email from a customer with a similar Go Green type of add-on in their sig line, but their's includes a cute little graphic of a tree and something..

It's cute - but sometimes I still need to print my emails for order purposes or whatever.

Feh. Putting personal agendas in business emails is a pet peeve of mine.

Came very close to doing some ill-advised things that would have landed me in a state of unemployement when my arch-nemesis, our QA Director, started putting christian bulshit in hers.

To say it's unprofessional barely begins to touch the matter.

Someone in my office put a "Save the trees, stop printing!" sign next to our main copier/printer/fax.

I took the sign down and pointed out to her that if she wants more trees, she should waste more paper, as paper companies would then grow more trees to meet the demand.

It's company policy where I work, we have to have that shit in our signatures.
I also work in th efinancial sector, I have to print emails to meet fsa regulations.
So when I print a long email chain, and have two or three pages of "think before you print" at the end of my printout a little of me dies inside.

I almost had to lay a smackdown on a user for printing 50 copies of a mailmerge form letter on the color printer (Laserjet 5550). The only color on the entire page was a red word in the letterhead.

I work in the Public Sector. This of course includes politicians. Alot of emails get printed. So that little Think Green tag some people have in their sigs is a waste of time since it gets ignored.

Go Fish is the best.
