"Yes, but the white ink is VERY expensive, so keep it to a minimum..."

Nope, to print B&W you have to use this dot matrix printer here....

Nope. If you want a black and white printout, you have to make your document dark colored, print it out, then make a copy on the black and white copier.

:D

Well, I think the answer, "yes and no" is 100% accurate. I would personally just say that, then leave immediately.

Tell them, "no. Black and white aren't colors."

Then put them in a round room and tell them to sit in the corner.

Cylindrical round or spherical round?

Technically? Spherical round. Then there are no corners at all.

Practically? A cylindrical room will work since most people think of "corners" as "where walls meet each other" and not "where the wall ends" but your milage may vary.

My mileage varies a lot - the devil is in the details :)

I think the pause is important.

I've actually told them "No, you have to use the BULK printer (where toner is cheaper) for B&W."

Psychological warfare.

A valid question 12+ years ago. I remember having color printers that could *only* print using ink cartridges that mixed all the inks to make black.

Nowadays? laff.

afaik at least some, if not most, still will do that when the black cartridge runs dry.

I believe that is the case. I seem to remember at least one color printer where it was the *only option*, though.

A lot of printers do it unless you explicitly tell them to print and B&W only. It always pays to set the printer in B&W only mode, if you're just printing black and white text, just to make sure it doesn't use any colour - especially when colour on your printer costs a fortune, like our colour laser.

And thus, the reason why I own and non color laser.

Black toner cartridges last forever ;)

I tend to send B&W jobs to the combination laser printer/photocopier/scanner. It's duplex, same as the colour laser, but it's cheaper when printing out pages of text and it can print on A3 as well. I think it's faster, too.

Yeah, why did they even need to ask? Obviously black isn't a color.

"You mean like the luxury black-and-white modules that the executive printers use? Well, I do have a spare down in the basement, but geez, man, I could get in real trouble if I... for example... installed a luxury item in your printer where nobody could ever find it."

*pause, wait for bribe*
