I've had SEVERAL people ask to see my iPhone. Because I *must* have gotten one.

Tom Smith, the World's Fastest Filker, came up with my response for me!

It's a really shiney toy, however...

From what I've heard the iPhone is disapointing - can't use it as a modem, can't make your own ring tones, no Java, and various other things standard on current phones.... I call it the iCan't

I'd heard about that. I'm sticking with my trusty Motorola L7. :)

I am waiting to see how long it is going to take some of the more clever members of society to find a way to make those things possible. I would love to try to hack the device but 1) I don't really care that much about it and 2) I don't have $500 lying around to spend on a bloody phone right now and 3) I don't live in an area that is covered by Cingluar/AT&T Wireless.

I wonder how long someone figures out how to make it work without having to be tied to AT&T/Cingular.

that's a great response, and that's what I say to people when they ask me why i got my iPhone.

I got it because it's a phone. My old phone was dying, I wanted a smartphone, I had the money to spend, I was already with AT&T...everything else is icing on the cake.

Also, the little things make me happy, and Apple's good at those little things. Like replacing my first iPhone with the cracked glass no questions asked (fyi as far as I know I didn't break it, and there was no other signs of physical damage and I discovered the crack [in the corner] when I had time to look at it carefully an hour after purchase, but not when i had opened it so I'm not sure where the crack is from), and then coming home with the new phone to find out that iTunes lets me sync my old iPhone's ringtone/sounds/email/...everything settings with the new one so I don't have to go through the preferences to do it all over again. That wasn't a big deal, but man did that make me glad for a moment inside.

Laughing this hard isn't good for headaches

Awright, the iPhone song was moderately amusing but Smash the Frickin' Fairies (http://filkertom-itom.blogspot.com/2007/05/040-smash-frickin-faires.html) is just frickin' awesome!! Yay for fairy bling!
