Jun. 22nd, 2007 01:54 pmThe last few lines of my most recent work order... (my typing in closing notes)
On laptops we typically redirect the My Docs to a subfolder on a personal network share.... I wanted to move hers to this location so she could sync to a second laptop. The rest should be self explanatory.

Date: 2007-06-22 07:09 pm (UTC)Those files are merely hardened to the internal drive. Since those are sealed, we can't just use a squeegee to break them loose. You need to soften them up so the system will be able to wipe them from the drive. We recommend Radio Shack part # 44-232 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Radio-Shack-reel-to-reel-BULK-TAPE-ERASER-44-232_W0QQitemZ330137572698QQihZ014QQcategoryZ14980QQcmdZViewItem) for this. With the computer running (the files will not soften properly if the drive is not spinning) activate this device for no ess than 30 seconds on each surface of your computer.
At this point you should be able to get rid of those space-hogging files.
Thanks for Flying Cranky Air, and Have A Nice Day.

2) Redirect *his* personal share to /dev/null, or whatever its Windows-y equivalent is.
3) Have a large cup of BOFH for yourself, as a reward.
