Back in my US Cable Internet days, caller had an issue with a dead modem. (DEAD dead!)

So out the truck goes.

Get it all booked, and then he comes out, "Oh, and tell him I'll have beer for him!" O.o

"Um, I'm pretty sure that he can't drink as he's currently working, and will have to drive to the next place right after getting you your new modem."

"Bah, is alright. I'm a Cop, I'll give him a clear ride."

Booze? wow! Usually the best I get from customers is cookies or sometimes a free place in the lunch line.

Last install job I went on I was handed a nice cool beer. And driven back to the train station in a porche. My job may have ruined me financially but sometimes ... it owns.

Ive had heaps of food offers from customers - coffee/tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits, sandwiches, jellybeans, etc..

I think it's half the hospitality instinct (any person in my home is a guest; guests should be offered refreshments) and half bribe...

I've been given free food at the current place (but we get a huge discount to begin with!), I was tipped $20 at one place that we had a contract with for just doing my job and fixing one of their registers, Amongst others.
