Jun. 12th, 2007 02:44 amok.
about how much memory is 2GB on a computer? that means absolutly nothing to me, haha.
also, how big is a 200GB hard drive? and what is a good sized hard drive?
give examples like how many files (music, photos, word documents) those amounts would hold.
and are MacBooks great?
thank you!

Date: 2007-06-12 06:59 am (UTC)I'd wondered if this was actually transcript of a customer comment as I was asked almost exactly the same question a few days ago before, followed by 'should I just upgrade my aqua iMac then?...'

Date: 2007-06-12 07:02 am (UTC)200gb hard drive isn't that much- it will only hold a few albums' worth of music files. try to get at least three 200gb hard drives.

Date: 2007-06-12 07:07 am (UTC)I don't think the OP is joking...
Date: 2007-06-12 07:11 am (UTC)2) usually, a 200GB hard drive will be about 4 inches wide, between 5.5 and 6 inches long and about 1 inch tall. That is, about 10cm x 14.5cm x 1.25cm, give or take.
3) They don't hold any documents whatsoever, but they are designed to hold lots and lots of ordered patterns of magnetic field. These magnetic fields are used to represent what are called ‘bits’, each ‘bit’ being the amount of information to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. These ‘bits’ can be used to represent the information contained in a photograph, piece of music, or document. How many in files in a given size of memory? Sorry, I won'tbe able to answer that question until you provide me with the ANSI standard gold-plated piece of string, and then and only then will I be able to tell you how long it is.
Short answer: between one and many many many. Approximately.
4) I don't know. I work with computers.
Hope that helps. Have A Nice Day.

Date: 2007-06-12 09:35 am (UTC)200GB depends on how you define your zeroes.
200GB would in my world contain an infinitve amount of music, photos and word documents.
MacBooks are the greatest there is. I use at least 20 a day. Good strecth, holds a lot of fluid and flush easeliy.

Date: 2007-06-12 09:44 am (UTC)Not that I'd buy anything from iTunes anyway.
To the OP, this is not the community for that kind of question, and yep, probably an macbook would suit you fine (looks pretty, hard to get at the guts of it, and costs nearly twice as much as it should)
