A note to the person who brought me his broken Sony:

Calling me every 2 hours and stopping by twice a day to see if the machine is done is NOT helping you get your machine back faster. Every time I have to stop what I'm doing and talk to you it is in fact taking additional time. I TOLD you that I would call you as soon as I was finished. Please let me do my job so I can get your machine done and back to you. Fscker.

Grrrr.

I used to do this when I was in computer repair. It was a lot of fun to keep putting it on the other shelves. My boss knew of what I was doing and asked me not to do it beyond four weeks.

I think of this every time some screaming entitlement brat throws a tantrum because it's "UNACCEPTABLE!" that a repair takes, well, the amount of time it takes. ("I WANT IT DONE NOOOOOOOOWW!") And when I imagine how much they're slowing down their own repair by behaving the same way with the repair techs ..

.. I smile. An ear-to-ear Grinch smile.

Is that bad of me?

I have the same issue. I got in trouble when I used this line:

"It's down. The more time that I take by answering phone calls and telling people that it's down is less time that I have to actually fix the problem. It'll be back up when it's back up."

There are limits on when the customer is wrong in this situation. I had to go in and make a scene for a week straight at staples when they had my laptop for 2 months and hadn't done anything to fix it... It wasn't like my laptop was on site, it was at their central repair depot, and they were stuck on repairing the power connector because the company that made said laptop hadn't shipped the connector (they were no longer a distributor for said brand). Needless to say I won't buy a) that brand and b) store warranties anymore.
