Welcome to our world. The IVR to get to the support desk is worse than the customer IVR

Hope you never have to deal with SBC/ATTs. I get to deal with a couple of IVRs pretty regularly, Their little "Please tell me what you want so I can not understand it" thing is one of the worst.

I got somebody to give me a direct number to their credit department, now I make them transfer me where ever I need. That's my thing now most of the time. Get ahold of billing, make them transfer me.

I was pretty amazed when I called Amtrak's IVR once, it read what I was saying perfectly while soaking wet on a Nexhell phone on a noisy street with the phone slowly filling with water from an ongoing downpour.

Why can't anyone else's voice response IVR be that good?

Personally, I hate their fucking spamming hosts. Next to RR.com, the biggest proportion of our spam (in Australia!) originates from zombie machines on their ADSL networks. Over a thousand pieces of crap every 24 hours. And they don't respond to emails asking what their sending MXes are, so that I can allow messages from *those* through. At the moment, it's all getting bounced.

Actually, I remember one area where, if you kept hitting "1", you got the "Home Networking" department, which specialized in Wireless Connections, and that's it. All calls supposed to go through Tier 1 and warm transfered in.

Now, what do you attempt when you can't figure out an IVR? OK, after you hit "0" attempting to get a human?

That's right. 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111.

Not pleased. Not pleased in the least.
