How do those people dress themselves in the morning?
And why, more often than not, do they make 10 times what I do?

not necessarily, this work order has been filtered through a tier 1 helpdesk, so they COULD have gone through a rigamarole to get to this point, you never know ;)
I've often resorted to the "scuba diver"* method of finding the cord .. find the monitor and follow the cable that comes out of it that isn't the power cord. That works more often than not.
(*from the method of finding a scuba regulator without having to look for it -- start at the tank and run your hand down the regulator hose until it catches the regulator .. handy if you're not able to see too well, like if you just got seawater in your mask during a bad water entry ..)
The related problem of why some people build these amazing rat's nests of cabling behind their desk that defy any sort of cable tracing is harder to solve ..
My roommate had to give the bad news to corporate that one of the cash register monitors was damaged due to pulling the cable too hard in a nest of cable spaghetti. It's a very pink monitor now.

"Ray, those are called 'Suits', and that's what they're supposed to wear."
Gahd! Even worse. UNIFORMS!
