I have spent the last 3 days trying to figure out Safari's authentication. Before moving everyone here to Panther, I want to make sure there will be no kinks. However, I can not pull up our intranet in Safari. It immediately says "error: access denied" doesn't even prompt me for authentication, like Explorer does. Anyone know what the problem is? Is it Safari or is it the intranet. Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with either program.. but have you tried

I'm not thoroughly knowledgeable about Safari, having never used it, but does it have proxy settings? You may need to enter proxy settings to view internal sites.

Since I don't really know your setup, I'm going to guess it is the way intranet is set up. We have Lotus Notes at my work, and for the first several revisions of Safari, none of the Notes functionality could be accessed from Safari because Notes refused to work with any non-supported browsers. This would prevent the Lotus Notes email from loading even before the point where authentication would be required. (actually in the first beta of Safari, this would entirely freeze Safari).

Having said that, you don't HAVE to use Safari in Panther. you can still use Explorer, although I'd try something like Mozilla Firebird first as it is MUCH faster. Also, you might want to try contacting this guy: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/hyatt/
He's one of the Safari developers and might be able to shed some more light on your problems. Good luck.
