How bloody stupid do you have to be to have DSL for over a year, have it hooked up properly, and yet STILL manage to continue dialing up through earthlink for this time period. Then you are surprised when I have you move one setting in your TCP/IP (PPP to DHCP) and your speed jumps up about 300 percent?

Arrgh... Customer Sterilization. It should be mandatory some days.

they are only as stupid as the software they use.. are they using Winpoet, TA3k3? or XP PPoE?

Neither... This one was a straight DHCP ethernet connection. As simple as a DSL connection can get.

Earthlink doesnt use PPPoE anymore?????(i'm an Ex-Earthlink Tech)

the customers that used the Elink software Total Access 2003 which is one of them connection programs that dont require you think

I mistitled... They were dialing in to earthlink for their dialup the whole time. I work Verizon tech. Verizon doesn't use PPPoE on the west coast.
