45 minutes on an error 691 call.

Error 691 should actually be called ID10T error. This one is RARELY at the ISP end.

I know he typed it wrong.

Was it naughty of me to have seriously considered taking his address down and going to his house to bash him with his keyboard?

I mean that's 45 minutes that I'm never going to get back...

I'm fortunate enough to be able to tail the authentication log. I'm seeing a lot of people who are missing out on the whole username/password concept. When it comes through with username 'Compaq' and password their username, you know something hasn't quite clicked in their mind...

I can't imagine working front end ISP support and not being able to access the authentication logs. Have you considered threatening your sysadmins with bodily harm?

Nope, not naughty at all... I have considered going around to my customers' places and beating them senseless and inserting token ring cards into their token rings...

You're not alone...
