DST SNAFU aka RTFM FFS

Working for a rather large corporation, we've got quite a few people with dingleberries, and of course they all need to get this damn DST patch that RIM was SO damn prompt in delivering! We sent out an email to pretty much every person with a BB that said something along the lines of "open this link  in your blackberry and follow the instructions."

I get a ticket yesterday saying that the customer is having problems opening the link. I go to the customer's desk and grab their blackberry and have absolutely no problems getting to the link.

Me: "Hm, it loaded up just fine."

Customer: "What?"

Me: "Yeah, it-"

At this point I see the customer's monitor and understand all.

Me: "Yeah uh, you're not supposed to open it in outlook."

Do they sell clue-by-fours on ebay?

Doesn't the link come up with something to the effect of "You moron, this only works on a Blackberry, but a Raspberry might be effective on you."?

And no - if they sold clue-by-fours there the people selling empty boxes of the latest game consoles for the same price as the actual machines would be out of business.

Nah, not the people SELLING the empty boxes....the people BUYING them!!

When the 360 came out, I saw a few auctions where it was very clearly marked (in the title of the listing, no less, as well as other places) that this was the box only....and people STILL bid on them!

I actually like applying the BB DST patch via IE on the computer better than on the device. It's just plain easier.

I can't argue with that, but the email says to open it in teh BB. So many computer issues would cease to be if people would actually read the full email / error message / whatever.
