hi im not sure if this is the propper community to post this, hope it is :D

"Dragging it to the desktop didn't work. I have Windows XP and no, I can't save any other gifs." -my friend(gf..i wish..heh..) kim who cant save .gif images, her xp internetexplorer only saves as .bmp

if anyone knows why windows sometimes wont allow images to be saved to anything but .bmp please let me know!

It's been my experience that when you view an image and only an image (http://www.something.com/picture.gif) through explorer, IE will automatically resize the image so it fits the screen and you won't have to scroll. If you right click on this and go to "Save Picture As..." it will save it as a .bmp. However, if you place your mouse over the image, after a second or two, a button will appear over the image on the lower right hand corner. Click it, and the image should expand to its full size. This time, if you right click on it and go to "Save Picture As..." it should save it as the correct format.

try a right click save as on the image you want
