Help?

Little information needed here if anyone is willing...

I'm on a help desk working mostly with software and I'm comfortable with what I'm doing but before this I was a secretary in different companies. I don't know most of the basic terminology for computers.

I need a certification by the end of this year. What is a good basic certification that will teach me the basics of computers, just to get me started? I mean, terminology, general set up and stuff like that.

I have little to no help here on what to get and anything I try to get has to be approved first by my boss.

I'm thinking of going through Quick Cert because I can't just read and learn, I need the interactivity. What should be the most basic certification for someone that knows nothing (basically) about computers other than the software. I checked and the MOS is out of the question. I think they're wanting MCP XP or Windows 2000 Professional but I think that's too advanced for me.

Advice?
