An open note to Sony
Feb. 11th, 2007 09:11 amWill you PLEASE put a great big orange sticker on the Playstation 3, or a brightly colored flyer in the packaging, or SOMETHING which is difficult to miss that indicates clearly that you must connect it with A/V cables and go into the menu to enable the HDMI connector before you hook it to your TV with HDMI?
I am getting very, very tired of getting calls from people who think their TV is broken because you bury that vital little tidbit in small print in the back of your manual. I don't work for Sony, it's not my job to tell people how to operate your retarded product, especially when a minimal effort on your part would eliminate the confusion.
Thanks.

Date: 2007-02-11 09:58 pm (UTC)Then again, everything from Sony seems to be pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to compatibility with anything that's not a Sony product.

2. Bring it back to the store and get a Wii or X-Box 360 (Or both, the two come to the same price as the PS3 at some stores!)
3. Wait until Sony wises up and puts out a revised version of the PS3 that is worth money.
(I'm sorry, I heard there were HOUSE FIRES from PS3s running too hot. At least a Wii will only kill a TV or Window.).

Date: 2007-02-11 09:54 pm (UTC)All in all, though, I agree. In this industry, I see too many OTHER screwups from Sony to recommend buying any of their hardware. Blu-Ray is doomed, Sony's digging themselves into a hole with broken copy protection that makes standard DVD players lock up, and if the PS3 is indeed supposed to autodetect HDMI, it sure isn't doing so.

Sony Movies are also screwing things up majorly, as well. Like not doing a new RoboCop now that Frank Miller is back to allowing movies to be made off of his writing again.
