okay.. I sit here at work and listen to both the PC and the apple techs, and their animosity for each other... wth the inception of iTunes for windows, there's a new blurred line between the OSes, and an entire slew of new web-comics posted daily about how Apple users are gloating, and PC users acting like some type of drug addict or like a religeous convert of some sort..

*looks to both PC and Mac users* will you two fecking get over yourselves! It's a computer! A machine! God damn, you people on both sides make me wanna puke sometimes! Each architecture has it's blessings and it's flaws, but that does not put one above the other..

It just makes me SICK! I've seen near techno-jihads break out on the tech floor here between the PC and mac sides.. I'll admit, I support both.. and I tell both sides now, it's the same friggin thing! an OS! There's nothing quasi-mystical or esoteric about either one! They both function with the same purpose in mind.. to do work, or play as you see fit.. The only difference a non-hardware person has is where the settings for the OS are hidden..

Same thing goes for your Linux people out there! I've even tried linux before.. but not anymore... You know why? Because of the 'greeting' I got from a supposed 'support' newsgroup for Redhat linux.. I posted a simple question about a video card I could not seem to get to work correctly with my monitor (a Tatung at the time).. I only got one response back in the group "Oh, why don't you just go back to your winbloze, you lamer!" I've never touched Linux since then.. Linux proports itslef as a comunity OS, but if that's the community, I'll stick to over here with the other OSes.. In this, it's not because of the Operating system itself I'm making this choise, but because of the attitude of those who make it...

*sigh*
okay, I've had my rant and said my peace..

now to go back to supporting mac-zealots who call up their ISP to rant and rave because they can't pull up pages with Active-X controls because they've purged Internet Explorer from their systems because "Microsoft is Evil and the work of satan! Burn Bill Gates! I hate him! I hate him and Everything about him! *rantrantrantraveraverave!!*"

Yes.. yes, I DO get this in calls...

I use Windows, Mac, and Linux. They're all good for their own reasons.

Yeah. Besides, EVERYONE knows that the best OS out there is BeOS. I mean, really, why would anyone even bother using anything else?

I have to point out that the complaint in your last paragraph is going to only increase due to M$ end of life-ing Explorer on Mac. Also, the problem is Microsoft as a corporation's fault more than either OSes, simply b/c ActiveX, like most Microsoft web technology, does not offer across the board support and accessibility, largely because it is non standards compliant. The fanatical ranting against Gates and Microsoft is a bit much, but someone complaining about Active X not working is a valid complaint.

That sounds more like you chose a crappy newsgroup to post your question in than anything. Don't judge the whole community by a 12-year-old punk in a newgroup...
