We need an entry/mid-level helpdesk/deskside geek in NYC, relatively ASAP.
Small company, mostly laptops running WinXP, Lotus Notes knowledge a strong plus. Other than that, it's your generic office applications.
Must be friendly and easy going, it's a high-strung office and you'll need to not have your panties in a bunch all the time.

Comment if you're interested, or just e-mail me your resume, [my ljname] @livejournal.com
(Don't spit-polish it for me, just barebones. If it looks good I'll get you a full job description and our HR e-mail address for your cover lettered version.)

(Thought of you guys first when the job opened up.
If you don't appreciate the post, like the first commenter down there, let me know and I'll delete it.)

Yeah, your pretty much right. Been one of those days today and I shouldn't take it out on you. Good knows I'd be interested in working with anyone who reads this stuff. Shows they think and have sense of humor.

Again, sorry about that. Hope you get some people.

My personal opinion is that this probably should be tossed over in [livejournal.com profile] techsupport_ot, but otherwise I don't see a problem with it.

Hell, I've gone so far as to beg people for help finding a new gig when my last one got intolerable. I think you're absolutely fine here.

Lotus Notes is fucking horrible. A previous employer used it, and my current one technically supports using their devices with it, although we don't even have a working install to test things against.

Our client's devices also support Exchange... and that's another thing that we can't test, due to lack of an available Exchange server. We can install the software on the devices, and then we just kind of look at it and go 'now what?'

There's a panic every time someone calls in with questions about this stuff, because all we can do is tell them to reinstall it while we escalate their issue back up to the mothership.

We have an Exchange server for internal use, but the company's IT policy prohibits hooking our the client's devices to it. The devices support POP3 and IMAP out of the box, with add-on software for Blackberry and Exchange. Lotus Notes is supported for synchronisation.

And that's probably enough information to figure out who the client is. :o)

Too bad I live in south Jersey. I could use an entry level type of job to get more experience and such.

Lets see... if I were to move my stuff to NYC, how many felony counts would I be facing? Hmmm... Probably 40 or 50 minimum. And post ban high-cap mags are what, a year each? Maybe another 600 years on top of the felony charges?

Might not be the job for me. :-)

Just wait till I figure out how to get the SWD M11/9 that I'm currently fixated on!

New York - it's belt-fed or NOTHING.

Heh - willing to fly me out from Australia for the interview?

(Would probably need excessive forms and paperwork to hire a non-American, anyway.)

You know, if this job didn't require Lotus Notes experience (never touched it in my life) and wasn't in New York, I'd jump on it. Ah, well.

Hahaha, no, it's all good. This is just the second good job opportunity that's popped up in as many days that required I essentially move to a different state. Granted, this one is a LOT closer than the last, MA-NY vice MA->MD, but picking up everything and moving isn't an ideal scenario at this juncture. ;)

Strangely as it may sound, the last opportunity was jewelry polishing/apprentice jeweller. Relation to laptop technifying? Zero.
