oh yeah, I've heard the same thing but pronounced: linker linkski system link netter (no kidding, she thought it was called a netter and I only found out it was a linksys after asking what the model number was, that call was an hour long) syslink and link systems cisco router (model number)
I think the guy who gave me the last answer wears suspenders to work. everyday. and likes to think he knows EVERYTHING about "'puters"
Gday mate, here in Australia a 'rooter' is 'one who roots'. Rooting is a popular sport amongst people with genitals. Nothing wrong with it as such, but it's not really appropriate ;)
I just moved to the UK from Australia, and it's hilarious, they all call them "rooters" here. It's been really hard keeping a straight face when talking to prospective employers.
The funny thing is that the past couple days were super busy on the floor and the back office was deadder then a door nail. I work in an entertainment industry, so we have the floor which is where all the magic happens, and the back office were all the stuff that makes the magic happen sits or takes place.
My erstwhile co-worker informed me that this morning was pretty busy. Fortuantely, we are running "full support staff" (1 monkey per shift, per site) so she was able to manage.
