So, my employer has decided to lay everyone off at christmas, and replace us with people in virginia (we're in georgia). I've been given the delightful task of following behind the mouthbreathers that they hired to replace us, and make sure they are entering case notes correctly. I just got this one today:

Yesterday I got what could only be described thus - take a paragraph of random words, and fill a BB gun full of periods. Shoot periods into paragraph until gun is empty. When I read the notes out loud, it sounded like James T Kirk on a psychedelic cocktail.

I can't even translate that. I'm going to *guess* that someone got an error message using Excel on a Windows machine, but I have no freaking clue beyond that. air plane??? WTF?

From what I was able to scrape from the rest of the case fragments, they were in a plane and created a document (excel,word, what? who knows!). They then went today to access said doc and got a fatal error. I just love how they will give us information that we -don't- need (one case had 'his son was using the computer [which isn't allowed] and he's going into law school') but they sorta neglect to give us the info that we -do- need.

Oh yeah. There is such a disconnect between what users think we need to know and what we think we need to know (and sometimes what we actually do need to know).

I just reread that, and it only gets worse the more I try to think about it. Man. I hope they're paying you big bucks for this.

I'm not terribly worried about employment yet. If I survive for 6 more working days, I'll get severance. That will give me a little breathing room to find something first of the year.

I'm pretty sure that they -know- they've shot themselves in the foot. From all accounts, it looks like it was a risk they wanted to take, to consolidate their CSRs to one location. I know my client, and the other client in this building are hopping mad about this and will probably both find support elsewhere soon. Which brings to another problem, these people I'm following behind and picking up after are all temps. Apparently there is a really big barrel up in VA that they're scraping to find these guys, and it shows.

I've got a pump-action 12-gauge, an SKS, a Sig P229 in .40, a Walther P22, and a Savage semiauto .22LR but I can't even get her to go to the range myself.

Some time ago it was noted that a fairly impressive percentage of the people on the techsupport list here tend to be involved in what some would consider "high-risk" activities... shooting, skydiving, performance car driving, etc. I can think of a fair few people right offhand who're in both techsupport and guns...

Well, by "client" we're meaning clients so large that when they have "new hire" training classes, that's roughly 1200 people -added- to their sales force. They'll probably go to one of the other well established places that are used to dealing with pharmaceutical info.
