Hmmmmm.... to ban, or not to ban, that is the question.

I will admit that I've been wanting to see just what the friendly looking blue button on my 'BanHammer 40K' does, but she just keep letting the train run her over, and over, and over...

But then, I could just revoke posting privileges. that might do it. And it would be so easy. just two little clicks of the mouse....

NAH. She's too funny. I'll let it go for another day, then I'll do something unless someone else beats me to it.

People aren't forced to be unrestrained twats either, but you seem to be doing a fine job of it.

Mrr. I'll re-say this here, since it got buried in the ... river o' hate that spawned out of the last post ...

"The fish in a barrel analogy fails here.

You see, shooting fish in a barrel is easy, but they can still swim a little, and it's playful. Eventually, you win, but you can intentionally let the fish think it's got a chance.

This is more akin to firing 120mm beehive canister at a dead whale in a drained drydock. Not that that isn't fun now and again, but it gets very old very fast, since the target doesn't merely have no way to escape, but isn't very mobile to begin with and will expire VERY messily under it's own natural efforts without you ever having to do a damn thing. (Want proof? Look up the video of the dead whale exploding in the street as it was being transported somewhere.)"

Quoting myself.

It's true, however. Just think - what would have happened if no one replied to her? She would have come back with a scathing reply about how utterly unhelpful we were that we just totally ignored her, and basically, without any help or prodding from us, she would have exploded into a fireball of brilliant intensity, meritous of a spot amongst the greatest "brilliant thinkers" on LJ, and would have been promptly banned and that would have been that.

*shakes head* Drop ye the hammer, and let her find out that one can only play at being superior on LJ with a 'voice'.

Beating up on [livejournal.com profile] jecook is MY job, and maybe madam Cheez's job. I hear he's into a few kinks anyhow, and those warlocks are pretty damn freaky if you ask me.

Funny thing is, she was born the year I technically graduated from high school (I actually graduated early.) It makes me laugh my ass off even more when she tries to be all wise and condescending.

Naaah, don't ban her. Not when I went to all the trouble of posting just to bring her out of the woodwork for more flaming...

I vote we go back to our daily routine. Flame wars are like like boxing matches against special needs kids.

You win:
"Nice one, champ. After you tipped over his wheelchair and he started crying and smacking himself in the ear, the match was yours."

You lose:
"Dude, that thalidomide kid with the flipper arms totally lost control of his bladder while he was swinging, but he still beat you."

Someone in [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes pointed out the "it's" in the community info that should be an "its". I'll have to agree with them on the idea that it would look even shinier fixed.

I would also recommend [livejournal.com profile] shitty_advice for tech support before us... :D Because, really...

Thank you! That "it's" has been bugging me since forever, but I didn't want to say anything for fear of setting off a firestorm of "WHO CARES" that such a remark usually elicits. ;)

Why just be elitist computer brats when we can police ourselves for proper language as well?

Well, that's my theory, but I've known plenty of elitist computer brats who don't care about spelling, and I try not to mix my fandoms for their sake because they're still great people! :D

The blonder half and I have both fallen prey to what he calls "CIS Disease", this being typoes caused by having to write in languages that are not spoken that do not follow the same rules as English.

The reason I recommend banning is that she's feeling all empowered and smug about stepping into a community that is supposed to be a haven *from* lusers like her, and behaving in the same poor, moronic, boorish manner that those we come here to get relief from do.
Banning her is the equivalent of hanging up on her.
But the way LJ banning works - she can still read the public posts - even the threads - she just can't post or reply in the comments.

It would probably drive her little rat brain nuts knowing that we can talk about her and continue to point and laugh but that she can't do anyhing as time and bandwidth wasting as replying with her incessant "nuh uh! I M 2 SMRT! I meant to do that!! I R laughing at youz because I am a successful troll!" comments.

Hmmmmmm.... I admit, I didn't think she had the balls to come back for more flamage. But she's such a little attention whore that she gets off on being called names. Seeeeriously borken inside, if ya know what I mean.

It's only going to be a matter of time before she starts spilling into the regular threads of the community and then we'll have no choice but to ban her. But until that point comes, I don't think she's really doing any harm. This is essentially like feeding a caged troll. Should the troll get too big for her cage and bust out we've got a nice big banhammer waiting to put her down. Yes, it's a little out of control, but those people who aren't as game for this sort of stunt (and I'm one of them at this point) don't need to read it. Yes, we're giving her attention she so desperately needs, but those of you who are participating are also feeding off her depraved life. It is a mutual exchange, like it or not, and at the end of the day both sides are going to go home feeling superior, even after this ends, however it ends.
