xxxxxxx Software will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24 to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with our families. Should you experience any technical difficulties with xxxxx during this time, please call our toll free support line at (xxx) xxx-xxxx.

The "toll free support number" RINGS TO MY FUCKING CELL PHONE WHEN WE'RE NOT OPEN. Even when we have a holiday or I'm on vacation. Some holiday; I'm going to spend part of Thursday and all of Friday on the phone, no doubt.
(Edit: The pay situation came into question, and I realize I forgot to include that. I am paid for the holidays, plus I can claim the time I spend on the phone as counting toward time off in following weeks. Sorry for the confusion.)

I think it was just assumed the other support guy (who should be answering the phone after-hours since it rings him first...) would fill me in and that didn't happen with quite a few things.

I support a cryptographic product for a very large software company, and am on call, not to be more than 1 hour from a computer where I can answer the call. _If_ one of our customers calls it, it will be probably be because they are unable to process credit transactions, _on Black Friday_ or the weekend following. Of course, I agreed to this when I took the job (I'm primarily a developer, though).
