Oct. 25th, 2006 11:28 pmI work at a helpdesk for a Uni, which is just begging for trouble anyway. Posted under the cut is a complete gem-- excuse the odd formatting, but I copied and pasted directly from the case notes. (Note: At my Uni, a person's port is shut off for file sharing when the RIAA notices and sends us a complaint. The port will be turned back on once the person speaks with Big Boss and basically gets a little lecture saying 'tut tut, file sharing is bad.')
Client is on the disabled ports list and wants it turned on now. He said
he knows the President of [Company] who we get our cable from and wanted
to know if he should call that person. I told him he was welcome to
call that individual but he would have to speak with [Big Boss] to get it turned
back on. He has limewire but swears he isn't sharing copyrighted material.
[Big Boss] wasn't in, so here is a case.

Client called back and was very rude. I tried to explain that he was disabled for file sharing.
He found it absurd that he was being singled out among 20000 students. I explained
that we recieved a notice from the recording industry. He continued to
boast that he knew the president of our ISP and would call him. I
explained that he wasn't the only one to have his port disabled and that
it was the direct result of his behavior. He wanted to know what label had
complained and they could sue him if they wanted. He also called me a
'fucking douche bag' as he hung up.

User's mommy called and told me that she had a serious issue with us shutting
off user's internet. I explained to her that he had agreed to the terms and
conditions of [University's] internet. She asked me why we didn't have this
handled already, and I explained that her son had to face the penalty of
breaking [University's] policy. She told me that it should be handled by morning,
and I asked her to kindly call back tomr. morning at 8am and ask for [Big Boss.]

Because, um, when my internet is shut off for doing something illegal, I totally want to 1. threaten to call the boss of the cable company who I 'know personally,' 2. call the rep on the phone a 'fucking douchebag', and then 3. bring in the big guns: MOMMY.
