Background: We have almost 20,000 computers and close to 500 labs.

Clueless L(user): I need to be added to a computer.

Fried at 8am hell desk monkey: What computer is that?

CL: It's one in the lab.

Fried Monkey: Ok, what's the property number of the machine?

CL: I don't know. It's in the lab around the corner on the third floor.

Fried Monkey: Um...we can remote in and give you access but I need to know what machine it is.

CL: You need to know that? Never mind. *click*

For some. This is a corporate place that has evolved over the last 20 years, with different orgs having different practices. For some of it, yeah, they have to be touched. We also have several different networks, with not all connecting to our main servers. Security and all that.

Just checked on customer. Sure enough, he called back, has a work order in to be added to a computer. Now, this guy's been here for a few years. Everything we do concerning computers starts with the property number. How could this guy be so incredulous that we would need that. Unreal. Fucking users!

Nope, SCA heavy. I caught Kill Bill about a month ago and when the silhouette battle scene came up, first thing I thought of was the iPod ads. Now, in heavy fighting, I used to use a very nice looking nodatchi great sword. Found it at the rattan crafter's shop, leaning against the wall with the perfect curve in it. I ended up giving it away when I was in college, up in Middle. Sigh. I miss that sword.

I get to watch the some of the best of the Middle Kingdom's heavy folk this weekend, though (crown tourney). And I see you were up in pentamere before most of the Middle Kingdom split...had to be even more of a mess for crown travelling back then, eh?
