We found this paper on the floor in front of our service desk. Now we have it tacked up on our board to remind us we're so EVIL!

Um yeah because a non beta version of Vista is out for the public.
Then my second thought was... why on earth are they requesting so low a computer.

Then trick you? What are you best buy?

ie smart enough to be dangerous, but hopefully not stupid enough to endanger anyone.

I had a customer who had a spyware popup that said "Your antivirus monitor is out of date!"

She went down to Best Buy to find out what it meant, and they sold her a $300 LCD monitor. After that didn't fix her problem, she called us.

Best Buy, how I loathe thee...

That just does not want to parse. I refuse to let it sink in.

Yea - I'm trying to train them to CALL ME when there is an error message - and READ IT TO ME.

"I had an error message" "What does it say" "Uuuuuuhhhh.... I already clicked through it. Now my machine doesn't work..."

"Oh, well there were some error messages and flames coming out of it last week but I didn't want to bother you because you're so busy!" (Now I'm going to do over time...)

exactly my first thought -- "Vista?!?"

They aren't going to be running Vista with that setup. hehe. (that's not even bringing in that Vista isn't even out yet)

But it's good to have a reminder that you're evil. Next step is to insight fear into their hearts.

Well I hope they got exactly what they asked for. It makes me giggle just thinking about the disappointment they face.

(I think I've been IT too long. Non-tech's computer pain make me laugh)

Oh, that's a thing of beauty! I should suggest that to Dad.

(Born and raised in Fairbanks; parents still live there; I'll be back someday.)
